Hurricane Disaster Relief: Western NC

Support Deerfoot Disaster Relief

On September 27, Hurricane Helene posed a significant threat to Deerfoot Blue Ridge, primarily due to the stress on the lake dam. Many prayed for safety, and Chief Aaron spent the night monitoring conditions at the height of the storm. The dam was saved thanks to his efforts and those of Chief Nick, Jeff Littauer, and Chief Cory from the DL Blue summer staff. Remarkably, DL Blue Ridge emerged with only minor damage.

In contrast, Asheville and the surrounding towns experienced devastating impacts. The scale of destruction is hard to comprehend. Deerfooters are actively engaged in relief efforts, with Kelly Littauer providing meals for private helicopter rescuers with help from DL Blue Chef Pete Landis and others. These dedicated volunteer pilots from across the country are doing extraordinary work.

We invite your support in purchasing food and supplies for disaster relief. Please visit the giving page below and select ‘disaster relief’ from the drop-down menu. These funds will not go to Deerfoot; they will be directed toward these relief efforts. If you are a regular contributor to DL, we kindly ask that you consider giving above your regular gift to Deerfoot.

You can give online: Click here and choose “disaster relief” in the gift designation drop-down box: Online Giving.
